This particular barricade was pretty flimsy by the standards of the barricades erected by protesters over the last week or so in central Kyiv.

About 100 metres away is an encampment.

It is about 30 yards square and maybe 600 metres from Independence Square in Kyiv.

This was set up yesterday by protesters in a bid to disrupt the smooth running of government officials as they move from building to building in the administrative heart of the city.

At 8.45pm, it was surrounded on three sides by police, and hundreds of protesters had joined it via the one remaining access point on Lutheranska.

In passageways to neighbouring courtyards leading off this street and a street leading to it, police are standing with shields. Behind them are buses revving their engines.

There was barbed wire in the barricade which has now disappeared, but it was largely used to stop cars from moving smoothly in the area.

The pictures show one of the flimsiest barricades in the city being dealt with.

There is no trace of the barricade now.

It is the only barricade I have witnessed being dismantled. These are all the pictures I have – couldn’t upload from scene directly to my site on my iPhone and had to walk to centre to put these up.
